About Page

I’ve updated the about page with some real content instead of lorem ipsum text. Last night I also add some links to various social sites I am on – these are on the sidebar. Finally this morning I have set up temporary links at the bottom of each post so that readers can share the post on delicious, twitter, or facebook. Will further style the links when I have more time tonight or tomorrow.

Launch

Here I am launching this site and the design and architecture is not yet complete. First off, the design is just temporary. I’m using a free template, until I have enough spare cash to pay a designer to make the design I really want. I started working on a design in photoshop, but after several hours, it’s butt ugly and not anywhere close to what I see in my head. Second the architecture, so far I have just the basic blog added and the comment form isn’t even styled properly, it’s just a plain form that breaks the layout.

What I am planning on writing about is the next 21 months as I prepare for my move back to Canada. This involves a large number of things including getting an immigrant visa for my wife (she’s Korean), getting my kid’s English skills up to par, ensuring we have translations of all relevant documents (birth certificates, immunizations etc..) choosing a home/neighborhood in Ottawa – should be fun when I don’t know anyone in the city and a whole host of other things.

I’ll also be writing about what I like about living overseas and what I don’t like, what I’ll miss and what I won’t. What I expect to like once I move back to Canada and what I expect to dislike. I’ll also be talking about the issues that my wife and children have with the move, finding schools and reverse culture shock.

Finally I’m planning on posting up short videos and loads of pictures of places around Seoul and anywhere else that I travel.

Work to still do on this site – finish the blog, including tags, tag clouds, resource lists, adding links to me on various social sites, add a contact page, potentially set up a photo gallery (though might just do a photo blog) – really shouldn’t take too long since next weekend is a long weekend and I’m still waiting on the graphic design for my current client which means I have a little free time.
