Elections this Wednesday - guess who I WON’T be voting for

The electioneers are campaigning about 500-600 meters away from my apartment (takes about 5-6 minutes to walk there) and the volume is so bloody loud that I can’t listen to music or watch TV. Only 2 more days to go.

Bloody Noisy Electioneering

Ordering Chicken at the Park

Yesterday my family and I went out to Seoul Forest for a picnic and day at the park. We met up with 4 other families and had a great time While there I realized, thanks to Dan, that there is something blog worthy in that event. At the major parks here in Seoul you can order pizza, chicken, or Chinese food and have it delivered to wherever you are in the park.

I’ve seen this so many times I had started to think it was normal back home in Canada, but as I remember now that would never happen. We actually ordered chicken before we left and had it already spread out when the delivery guy came to our spot and dropped off a flyer so we would know the local number to call. Anyhow really convenient and something I like about Korea that won’t happen in Canada.

Here’s a picture my wife took of the playground are of the park. I’m sitting on the stairs next to the guy with th red cap (Dan).

Housing overvalued in Canada

Well this article from Reuters News suggests that housing prices should decline in the year or two.

He predicted that higher interest rates will lead to a modest decline in prices, probably between 5 and 10 percent, in the coming year or two.

This is good for me as I will be buying a home as soon as possible once we move to Ottawa next year. I hate the idea of paying rent – it’s a complete waste of money as your money is just flushed down the toilet never to be seen again.

Falling Behind

Once again another apology post for not writing very often. The past few weeks have been crazy busy for me. Teaching full time – that’s expected. But I’ve also been really busy with client work for my business CreateSean.

The best news for me is that I’ve picked up a gig doing regular outsourcing work for a web agency based in San Franscisco. This work has so completely filled up my time that I’ve barely been able to keep up with teaching. This weekend is Budda’s Birthday and a holiday here in Korea – coincidentally it’s also my MIL’s birthday. I skipped out on going to the birthday celebrations to catch up on work.

I also missed the Buddas birthday celebrations at one of the big temples downtown. I’m hoping to have time after Church this afternoon to go, but am not sure as I have a meeting about the church web site and don’t know how long that will take. If I do make it, expect some pictures and/or video a little later when I have more time.

It’s just over a month until my trip to Ottawa this summer and I still haven’t completely planned what I’m going to do nor have I contacted all the people/organizations that I want to. Anyhow busy is good as it means my business is starting to take off (after two years) and I will be able to live off of the income.
