Newcomers’ Guide to Elementary School

image

This morning I was sending off emails to a couple of schools and the school board in Toronto trying to find information about enrolling my kids when I stumbled upon a buried link on one site that brought me to the Newcomers’ Guide to Elementary School which looks to have lots of good information including:

  • Getting Ready for School (including registering for school)
  • School Procedures
  • Parent Involvement and Communicating with the Teacher

and more. The information is available in 20 languages including Korean. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the Settlement.org site with my wife.

Hi. I know it’s been a while since I deserted the blogosphere in favour of language training, but have you given up on the idea of moving to Ottawa then? You’ve chosen Toronto instead?? I think it’s a much better idea, but what made you change your mind?

Hi XUP,
yeah it’s been a while since you wrote anything. Back in January, I wrote about the decision to move to Toronto instead of Ottawa. Essentially it comes down to opportunity and marital happiness.
