Visa Provisional Approval

image

Today when I got home there was a letter waiting from the embassy. My wife’s visa has been provisionally approved. The next step is to send her passport to the embassy and wait. The letter states that it will take up to 30 days before we get it back. The timing on this is incredibly tight as it is 30 days exactly from today that she flies out of Seoul.

Needless to say I’ll be going to the embassy personally tomorrow to drop this off and hoping that they accept it along with an explanation of the urgency. Generally they won’t and insist on receiving things by post or courier. In which case I’ll go to a coffee shop down the street order a courier, pay the fee for the courier to drive 1 block down the road to deliver it.

Obviously this is good news and we’re very happy to have the visa and if necessary will re-book Sunyoung and the kids flights to Toronto. Hopefully we won’t have to as that will be more expensive and we’ll potentially lose some money for cancellations.
